Do you guys remember when it was cool to be a member of a forum?

I remember it like 2005.

When you told someone you had over 9000 posts on one of the world's biggest forums people would ask you what site it was. Forum posts meant something back then. I even landed a job once because of it(i was fired a week later for low productivity).

Now when you tell people you are a member of a forum they ask you if that's old school like Myspace.

Those that do know what a forum is look at you like you're about to rape their children, kill them and then eat them while drinking beer on their mother's grave.

I miss the days when you could say any kind of crazy shit on the internet and everyone believed you. I miss the days where you could entertain yourself with something so simple as seeing who could make the most posts in 15 minutes or whitewash a forum.

I miss the days when everyone knew you by your handle and no one really knew if you were a girl or a man or HAL-9000 or SPYKER'S ANUS OF JOY. I miss the day when you could make friends simply because you had a cool av. I miss the days when people knew what an av was. I miss the days when it was cool to be ghey and being ghey was not the same as being gay and being gay was a completely different thing from being a faggot.

I've also just realised. This post would have been a lot simpler if we just started a group on facebook

The good old days were good indeed.
I mostly managed to avoid pictures of Spykers balls.

I think Facebook has had an enormous impact on all forums, although I closed my account earlier this year. But for me, I find myself posting a lot less on any forums. (well, the two I belong to). I'm just using my time in different ways, wasting it in other ways rather than being Commander Productive.
Getting hitched has also taken a big chunk away from my Forum time. It feels a bit odd sitting next to your wife (my wife, not YOUR wife) typing the glorious gibbled nonsense that we all enjoy.

That's why I'm just a drop-in these days. Still hold AS/BJ and all you folks very dear to my not-quite-stony-heart.

Though this forum is no longer very popular, there are other special interest forums out there still with thousands of members and millions of posts. Like we touched on it in another thread, I would hate to start over somewhere else.

Still would enjoy a regroup hug though!
